Beschreibung

In der Enzymologie ist eine Glycerin-3-phosphat-Oxidase (EC 1.1.3.21) ein Enzym, das die chemische Reaktion katalysiert: sn-Glycerin 3-phosphat + O2 ↔ Glyceronphosphat + H2O2. Somit sind die beiden Substrate dieses Enzyms sn-Glycerin 3-phosphat und O2, während seine beiden Produkte Glyceronphosphat und H2O2 sind. Dieses Enzym gehört zur Familie der Oxidoreduktasen, insbesondere zu denen, die auf die CH-OH-Gruppe des Donors mit Sauerstoff als Akzeptor wirken. Dieses Enzym ist am Glycerophospholipidstoffwechsel beteiligt. Es verwendet einen Cofaktor, FAD.

Anwendungen

GPO wurde für empfindliche Metabolitenanalysen der Stärke- und Lipidsynthese, Pyrophosphat, ATP, ADP und der meisten glykolytischen Zwischenprodukte in Arabidopsis-Samen verwendet. GPO ist Teil des Dihydroxyacetonphosphat:Glycerin-3-phosphat-Zyklus im Blutstromform von Trypanosoma brucei.
